Beach Treats

Sweet summertime is here! Every boat is stuffed-to-the-gills with visitors, there’s traffic everywhere we turn and colorful umbrellas line the shores. For some of us beach days are few and far between, for others they come consecutively. But one thing’s for shore, everybody loves beach treats! Whether it’s a sandwich or snack, our delicious list of local eateries will have you beach bound in no time!

7a An Island staple. What used to be Back Alley’s ages ago is now the go to place for amazing sandwiches and other items. Their menu which has hardly changed over the years (they know what works!) is home to some of the most sought after sandwiches on Martha’s Vineyard. The Liz Lemon is a fan favorite; hot housemade pastrami, turkey, swiss, coleslaw, Russian dressing and potato chips on rye. Another seasonal favorite is the Asaparagus Melt. For the early beach goers, 7a has the best breakfast sandwiches, made on fresh housemade biscuits with nitrate-free meat and farm eggs. If you’re lucky, you just might be able to score a compost cookie while you’re at it!

7a is in West Tisbury, order in person or by phone.

Looking for the biggest sandwich around town? You’ll most likely find it at Mo’s. Their sandwiches are no joke; bold in flavor and big in size. Avoid town and take the long way to the beach but don’t forget to make a stop at Mo’s Lunch at the PA Club in Oak Bluffs. Their menu features daily specials and a sandwiches for everyone to love. Try a delicious Roast Pork or a classic Italian! Mo’s Austin and Moira sling sandwiches and other great beach snacks Tuesday-Saturday––don’t miss out! Save time and seize your beach day by ordering online!

Waterside Market - On Main St. Vineyard Haven and another Island classic. Waterside has it all—from breakfast and lunch to craft beer and wine! Start your beach day with Farmhouse or a CAB. Still sleepy? Opt for a breakfast sandwich and a latte. Feel like filling up before the beach? Sit outside their porch and people watch! Their menu can be found online, where you can order for now or later!

Winston’s Kitchen - A new-er kid on the block is Winston’s. Found on Oak Bluff's harbor next door to Our Market package store, a little hidden from all of the foot traffic and chaos of Circuit Ave. Owned and operated by Winston “Chris” and Lisa Christie, Winston’s is a can’t miss beach snack stop! The menu features classics like a Steak and Cheese, an Italian, Fried Chicken, BLTs, breakfast sandwiches and more. They have daily specials and dinner portion meals too! Luckily for us locals, Winston’s is open all year long! Give them a call to order and check out the menu online.

If you’re heading Up Island, make a pit stop at the Chilmark General Store! Here you can find everything from fresh sandwiches, slices of pizza, salads, other prepared foods and more. As it’s one of the few spots in between West Tisbury and Aquinnah, they also have a grocery section. Whether you’re looking for a grab and go sandwich or filling a beach bag with fun foods, You can find it at all the Chilmark General Store.

Black Sheep MV - Contrary to the name, Black Sheep is oh so popular. Serving fresh, made in house foods and boasting a wonderful selection of prepared items, cheeses, breads, spreads coffee and more! Centrally located at the airport, Black Sheep shouldn’t be missed. If you’re around early enough, order a breakfast sandwich before your beach day.
