Meats and cheeses, but make it craft

Recently renovated and open for business, The Larder, located at 342 State Road, Vineyard Haven, is bringing something old in tradition but  new to our Island. And with Rose Willett and Tyler Potter at the helm, we know it’s going to be good.

The Larder gives a refreshing feel—with bright white walls, clean deli cases, smiling faces and lots of local goods—all things you won’t want to miss.

Rose is a longtime local farmer and business owner and Tyler is a chef, meat master and founder of The Swimming Pig—together they make a wonderful team. Rose brings her business brain and North Tisbury Farm following while Tyler brings his expertise in meat and experience in culinary.

New-ish to the Island, Tyler [The Swimming Pig] said being approached to collaborate on The Larder with Rose was a no brainer. “Through producing a successful sausage program for North Tisbury Farm for her last season, we saw a massive potential in working with one another and I’m grateful to be working with her to bring something impactful to the community.” He says.

Tyler began practicing the art of charcuterie under several chefs in Boston. He quickly became passionate about the age-old alchemy of charcuterie. While in Boston, Tyler was doing everything from whole animal butchery and sausage making to classic French charcuterie as well as southern BBQ and smoking.

At one point while working in Boston under Joshua Smith, formerly of Moodys and New England Charcuterie, Tyler was processing approximately 8,000 pounds a week of wagyu beef and Berkshire pork meat products. Now, after honing his craft, he’s bringing it all to our Island at The Larder.

Tyler says “at The Larder, we want to curate an old world experience with a new world aesthetic” and they are doing just that. Him and Rose Willett are taking ancient practices and applying them to a more modern yet local approach.

Customers can find an array of craft sausages, pate, cheeses, meat specials and more at The Larder. Whether you’re looking to curate the perfect charcuterie board for your next summer soiree or just want to experience something local, find it all at The Larder.

The Larder is open 7 days a week, 9am to 7pm.
